Read the changes list. Quite huge. Great work. Glad to see that the developer is still at it. Eager to try it out.

Thanks so much!

Gosh! What a solution! Absolutely works! Thanks!

You guys are great! Very much 'live n' kickin' ;-)

Also... this Siren really is something!

I'm not sure whether this should be in the 'How to" or the "Evolution" section.

I have these files in a folder:

John Denver - 02 - Annie's Song.mp3
John Denver - 07 - For Baby (For Bobbie).mp3
John Denver - 08 - Goodbye Again.mp3
John Denver - Annie's Song.mp3
John Denver - Grandma's Feather Red.mp3

The first three have their "Artist - Track number - Title" fields tagged, whereas the last two have only the "Artist - Title" fields tagged.

Wherever feasible, they should be renamed as:
    Artist - Track number - Title.%e
The main emphasis here is on 'wherever feasible'. So when I insert this line:
    %ma - %mT - %mt.%e
I get this:
John Denver - 02 - Annie's Song.mp3
John Denver - 07 - For Baby (For Bobbie).mp3
John Denver - 08 - Goodbye Again.mp3
John Denver -  - Annie's Song.mp3
John Denver -  - Grandma's Feather Red.mp3

Can Siren 1.90 be told to rename mp3 fields only where the corresponding tags are present? In this case, the last two files (that do not have their 'track number' tagged) should not be renamed containing '- - ' in the middle.

Beautiful!

Well, that's still a big relieve! Take time, I never stop hoping ;-) 'cause the final product is surely gonna be a good one. Thanks for all the painstaking efforts (whose fruit I reap)!

Is this alpha version not yet ready for download? I can't find any link.

Thanks again!

Lemme sleep on it.

Pretty prompt! Thanks again! Most of these are one-page docs. Strikes me that regex is something short but time consuming to master.

Btw, Starmerj's Perl RegExp Crib Sheet (http://www.itlab.musc.edu/docs/perl_regexp/) is dead.

I got one more here. Please mull it over:

foobar - the audio player [2007]

to be renamed as

        2007 - foobar - The Audio Player [2007]

I can reach this far: 2007 - Foobar - The Audio Player [2007]

Yes, Stefan, RegEx help will be very nice. Especially some readymade lines like 'insert xx character at xx place', 'first/second/third occurrence only', etc. Thanks for being so open.

Awesome people! How do I get to learn to be as good?!!
Thank you so much.

How to go about renaming this:

foobar.the.audio.player.9.4.3

to

foobar the audio player 9.4.3?

foobar2000 audio player seems to do this work well.

Damn it, Stefan!! No way to determine how indebted I am to you!! ;-)

Thanks so much for sharing your valuable knowledge. Keep it up!

You're right, Stefan! With respect, I share your opinion on the
lightness, cleanliness and power of Siren.
Ued the app for some of the jobs where I find that it's most suitable.
I'm yet to learn how to harness its power. For this I wish more texts
or examples were available. This forum, I hope and believe, would
help fill that void. (I find the help notes that Siren brings along a
little too less.)

Not to forget that I'm really glad that Siren is still alive and being
continued!

Sincere thanks to all those involved!
